Wood of good mechanical resistance and low risk of cromatic alterations. Typical aspect with medium, irregular weave.

 

Main characteristics of the essence:

 

Origin: Europe, mountain areas
Characteristics of trunks: The tree can reach an height up to 40 m and diameter even going over 1 m.
Aspect: Yellowish sapwood of modest thickness, decidedly differentiated from the red, reddish brown or even crimson duramen.
Specific gravity: After ageing, 650 kg/m3
Mechanical features: Average resistance to axial compression: 51 N/mmq, to flexion: 92 N/mmq
